Void Bastards is Blue Manchu's 2019 comic-styled strategy-shooter roguelike inspired by BioShock and System Shock 2. This free mod brings it to PC VR in stereo 3D with hand-aimed shooting and a floating HUD.

Controls Aim and shoot with your hand and point and grip to interact; movement, jumping, reloading and weapon switching stay on the sticks and buttons, with a left-handed option.

What you need

Own Void Bastards: the Epic Games Store version (2.0.33) is the tested one; this Steam version is listed as experimental

Supply your own legally owned copy; UnflatVR never hosts or links game files.

How to install

Install summary: Extract the release outside the game folder, run the included launcher to install the mod (it backs up original files), start SteamVR, then click Launch in VR from the launcher.

Notes

SteamVR (OpenVR) mod installed through Umm Mod Launcher: stereo 3D including the layered main menu, head tracking, hand-aimed shooting with a laser from the hand, point-and-grip interaction, snap or smooth turning, a floating HUD with in-world enemy names and damage numbers, and menus and comic pages on a floating screen with a laser pointer. Guns remain the game's 2D sprites. The launcher backs up changed files and can restore the original game. Dev's page: tested on the Epic Games Store version with a Meta Quest 3 via Virtual Desktop and SteamVR; other headsets and the Steam version untested. Free to use, not open source. No game files included.
