Headset not detected

Start with the cable. Meta says you need a USB-C data cable, and a charge-only one won't work. Try another cable, or a different USB port. Then put the headset on and look for the USB debugging prompt. It's easy to miss. Still nothing? Check that Developer Mode is on in the phone app. On Windows, install the Oculus ADB Drivers from Meta's device setup page.

Installed it, but it's not in the library

Sideloaded apps don't show up in the main app grid. Open your Library and switch to Unknown Sources. If it's not there either, the install probably failed, so check SideQuest or adb for an error.

Black screen

Give it time first. Meta says an update can take up to 15 minutes. If it's still dark, do a hard reboot: hold power and volume down for at least 10 seconds, then pick Boot device. On PC over Link, Meta's first steps are to restart the headset and the computer, update the Link app and your graphics drivers, and use only one connection type at a time.

Stutter and low frame rate

On Air Link or Virtual Desktop, Wi-Fi is the usual suspect. Meta suggests a 5 GHz network on an 80 MHz channel, getting closer to the router, and wiring the PC with Ethernet. Over Link, you can lower the render resolution and refresh rate in the Link app under Devices, then Graphics preferences. Lowering the game's own graphics settings can help too.
